Some of Our Recent Successful Cases
MURDER – NO FURTHER ACTION
We successfully defended our Client who was arrested for the murder of a nurse in New Cross in London.
Our Client was taken to Lewisham Police Station for questioning by the Murder Squad.
The police were convinced our Client was guilty and their questioning at the police station was extremely oppressive.
However, on our examination of the evidence, we realised it was all based on guesswork.
Our Client was advised to give a “no comment” interview and he was duly released without charge.
Our Client’s co-suspect who had been arrested at the same time for murder was represented by a different Firm of Solicitors who advised him to answer questions, which placed him at the scene of the murder. He was charged and ultimately convicted of murder.
No action was taken against our Client by comparison.
MURDER – NOT CHARGED
We represented our Client who was 18 years old at Lewisham Police Station. He was originally arrested with two others of the high profile murder of a man in Trafalgar
Square which was referred to in the press as the “Clockwork Orange Killing”.
We represented our Client at the Police Station for three days whilst he was interviewed and re-interviewed by the Murder Squad.
We prepared a detailed three page Statement on the basis of our Client’s instructions setting out in detail his defence of self defence.
Following his detention at the police station he was not charged with Murder.
ACQUITTAL OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AND ATTEMPTED KIDNAP AT THE OLD BAILEY
We successfully defended a seventeen year old boy against charges of attempted murder and kidnap at the Old Bailey. He was accused of being a member of a South
London gang and one of his initiation rites was to murder a rival gang member.
Numerous witness statements were taken, site visits made, top Experts instructed to prepare cell-site analysis reports and facial mapping reports.
After a six week Trial at the Old Bailey our Client was found not guilty of attempted murder and kidnap.
ACQUITTAL OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AT THE OLD BAILEY
Our Client was a youth and it was alleged that he had shot at another youth in the street outside a pub on Lewisham People’s Day.
Our Client denied the allegation and we obtained Expert evidence which cast doubts on the viability of the gun to fire bullets properly.
After successful negotiations with the Prosecution the attempted murder allegation was not proceeded with and the case against our Client was dropped.
ACQUITTAL OF SERIOUS ASSAULT AT CROYDON CROWN COURT
Our Client was a lady of good character who was accused of stabbing her husband four times in a completely unprovoked attack.
We represented her at the police station and at Court.
Her defence was that she had acted purely in self defence. She was found not guilty by the Jury at her Trial.
ACQUITTAL OF TWO OFFENCES OF GBH WITH INTENT AT CROYDON CROWN COURT
We successfully defended our Client against two charges of GBH with intent. The Prosecution alleged that our Client had attacked his Partner’s two sisters with an axe following an altercation, causing horrific head injuries.
Our Client explained that the two women had gone to his and his Partner’s address with another male who was armed with a knife, in the early hours of the morning whereupon they started hurling abuse at our Client and his Partner.
Our Client was forced to protect his family with a hammer, not an axe as alleged by the Prosecution.
We instructed two top Pathologists to disprove the injuries were caused by an axe and a top Forensic Scientist who was a specialist in blood staining to prove that the women’s blood was on the hammer and not the axe.
Despite the Prosecution’s claims that our Client had meted out summary justice on his doorstep, the jury unanimously found he had acted to defend himself, his Partner and their children in their own home.
The Jury also agreed that the self defence was reasonable.
Our Client was found not guilty of all the charges.
